In the early hours of the morning, thousands of faithful gather in silence in front of the Cathedral to accompany the statue of the <strong>Madonna dei Miracoli<\/strong> to the sanctuary of the same name. It is one of the most moving religious traditions in Puglia, a nocturnal pilgrimage that every year attracts not only the people of Andria but also numerous pilgrims from all over the region.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also <strong>this year<\/strong>, the tradition will be renewed. The <strong>night procession is scheduled for the night between August 28 and 29<\/strong>, departing at <strong>3:00 AM<\/strong> from the Cathedral of Andria and arriving at the Basilica-Sanctuary of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, where the celebrations in preparation for the great patronal feast dedicated to the Madonna dei Miracoli and Saint Richard will begin.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event represents one of the most intense moments of Marian devotion in the city. In the heart of the night, while the streets are still immersed in silence, the statue of the Virgin leaves the Cathedral accompanied by the prayers of the faithful, the sound of musical bands, and the confraternities who, with candles and torches, walk through the streets of the historic center to the sanctuary.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The procession is not only a religious event, but a ritual passed down through generations. Many families participate every year, often together with their children and grandchildren, keeping alive a tradition that represents one of the most defining elements of the Andrian community. In the following centuries, the Madonna of Miracles was invoked during epidemics, natural disasters, and difficult moments in local history, eventually being proclaimed co-patron saint of Andria together with Saint Richard.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The transfer of the sacred image from the Cathedral to the Sanctuary traditionally marks the beginning of the patronal festivities, which culminate in the month of September with solemn religious celebrations and popular events. For the people of Andria, it is one of the most anticipated moments of the year, capable of uniting spirituality, memory, and a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What makes this procession unique is above all the atmosphere. The soft lights, the sky still dark, the slow pace of the faithful, and the silence of the city transform the journey into an authentic pilgrimage. It is not uncommon to see people walk the route barefoot as a sign of devotion or entrust the Madonna with prayer intentions for their family, health, and work.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent years, the procession has also become a draw for many visitors and enthusiasts of religious tourism, attracted by the opportunity to witness one of the most characteristic expressions of faith in Southern Italy.
