Saint Faith of Agen: youth consecrated to martyrdom and faith in Christ

Today the Church remembers Saint Faith of Agen, a virgin and martyr of the 4th century. A young Christian originally from Aquitaine, Faith faced the tribunal of Governor Dacian with extraordinary courage during the fierce persecution unleashed by Emperor Diocletian. Faced with the demand to worship the pagan deities of the Roman State, the young woman chose the path of Christian witness without hesitation, firmly professing her faith in Christ. Her unwavering decision cost her an atrocious torture: she was tied to a burning gridiron and, finally, beheaded. Her ultimate sacrifice, carried out at a young age, remains throughout the centuries a luminous symbol of evangelical fidelity and spiritual resistance against all forms of abuse and idolatry.
